We engineered the RSP Prerunner front bumper for trucks that spend more time off pavement than on it. This full-replacement bumper combines race-inspired geometry with integrated recovery points, a reinforced winch mounting platform rated for 12,000-lb winches, and a 3/16-inch steel skid plate to shield vital components from rocks and debris.
Every RSP Prerunner bumper is built from 0.120-wall tubular steel, TIG-welded at critical stress points, and powder-coated in textured black for corrosion resistance. The design maintains factory fog light locations and provides clearance for oversized tires, while the bolt-on installation uses existing factory mounting points for a secure fit without frame modification.

Steel construction and welding process

We use 0.120-wall tubular steel throughout the RSP Prerunner bumper frame, chosen specifically for its balance of impact resistance and weight management. Every joint receives full-penetration TIG welding rather than spot welds, creating continuous seams that distribute impact forces across the entire structure instead of concentrating stress at isolated points.
The skid plate mounts flush against the lower frame rails using grade-8 hardware, and we radius all leading edges to deflect obstacles rather than catch on them. This same approach to deflection geometry appears in our MRDS and HVM bull bar platforms, where prerunner-style angles have proven effective in high-speed desert testing. Our powder coating process includes a zinc-rich primer layer before the textured black topcoat, preventing rust formation even when the finish sustains trail damage.

Electrical routing
Factory winch wiring routes through pre-drilled cable ports in the mounting plate, with grommet provisions to protect insulation from sharp edges. The design positions the winch drum 2 inches higher than stock bumper height, improving approach angle while maintaining optimal cable spooling geometry for recovery operations.
Installation process and hardware

Every RSP Prerunner bumper ships with vehicle-specific brackets that bolt directly to OEM frame mounting points—no drilling, cutting, or welding required. Installation typically takes 2-3 hours with basic hand tools, and we include detailed instructions with torque specifications for every fastener.
You’ll remove the factory bumper and crash bar assembly, then position our frame brackets using the existing holes. The bumper mounts to these brackets with eight grade-8 bolts, and we provide lock washers and thread-locking compound to prevent loosening under vibration. Factory fog lights reconnect using OEM wiring harnesses, and we include extension pigtails for trucks where relocation creates additional wire length requirements.
